GEARHUB Billing Policy

Below, find everything you need to know about GEARhub’s billing policies. 

Our 10% commission fee helps us not only invest in the people needed to sustain our community but also the technology necessary to keep your experience with us on GEARhub top-notch. 

This policy is a part of GEARhub’s’s Terms of Use. By opening a shop on GEARhub, you’re agreeing to this Policy and our Terms of Use.

Overview :

For Sellers GEARhub charges a 10% commission fee on the total selling price for each item sold. Additionally, there’s a payment processing & transaction fee for sales processed through GEARhub Payments.

GEARhub & PayFast are transparent about it’s fees and doesn’t charge setup, monthly, or hidden fees; you only pay for payout fees once your item sells.

This means Sellers will pay a total of 10%, plus a payment processing & transaction fee of (0.35%, plus R13,70) per transaction. These fees are separate from commission fees and are based on the total amount of the transaction, Payment type and Buyer Location. * Additional Fees that may apply to international Sellers using GEARhub Payments: please see Section 3-International Fees below.


Here’s a breakdown of the fees:

  • GEARhub Commission Fee : 10% of the final total sale amount, per item sold.

  • Payout Processing & Transaction Fee : 0.35% of the total transaction fee, + R13.70 (per transaction). These fees are based & can vary depending on the Amount of the Transaction, Payment type and Buyer Location.

1. Commission fees :

The GEARhub marketplace was built to provide a safe and secure place for music makers of all types to buy and sell music gear. Our 10% commission fee help us provide music makers around the world with the tools they need to buy and sell music gear. It also helps us not only invest in the people needed to sustain our community but also the technology necessary to keep your experience with us on GEARhub top-notch. Fees are based on the on the total sale amount for each item sold.

* Therefore Sellers on GEARhub pay only 10% of the total sale price, + a Payment Processing & Transaction fee.

Note : For Trusted and Loyal Participants on GEARhub, Commission fees may be negotiated.

2. Payment Processing & Transaction Fees:

* Payout Processing & Transaction Fee : 0.35% of the total transaction fee, + R13.70 (per transaction). These fees are based & can vary depending on the Amount of the Transaction, Payment type and Buyer Location.

* No Hidden Fees:
GEARhub & PayFast are transparent about it’s fees and doesn’t charge setup, monthly, or hidden fees; you only pay for payout fees.

Here’s how it works:

>You sell your beat-up BOSS-DS1 Distortion pedal for R400. The buyer pays via GEARhub Payments.

>You’ll be charged R40 commission (R400 x 10%), + a Payment Transaction fee of R27,70 (0.35% + R13,70).

>Therefore you will get paid out R332,30.

* Kindly Note: Any payout request will only be actioned once the buyer has received and approved the product on completion of delivery.

Here’s a final breakdown of the fees:

  • Commission Fee: 10% of the total sale amount.
  • Payment Transaction Fee : 0.35% of the total transaction fee, + R13.70 (per transaction). These fees are based & can vary depending on the Amount of the Transaction, Payment type and Buyer Location.

3. International Fees:

Additional Fees that may apply to international Sellers using GEARhub Payments:

* Cross-Border Fee: 2.5% of the transaction total if the buyer and seller live in different countries.

* Currency Conversion Fee: International Shipping/ Cross-border fees. 2.5% if the listing currency differs from the payout currency.

Please note: where payouts are available in different currencies, payment processing fees for GEARhub Payments will differ based on the applicable country and currency.

4. Change In Services:

GEARhub may, at GEARhub’s sole discretion, change or terminate some or all of GEARhub’s services at any time. In the event GEARhub introduces a new service, the fees for that service are effective at the launch of the service unless otherwise notified to you.

 

5. Additional Information:

Unless otherwise stated, all fees are quoted in South African Rand – ZAR.  GEARhub keeps accepted payment information on file.

Depending on your business status and location, GEARhub may be required to collect VAT on seller fees and remit it to the relevant tax authority. Note that fees listed in this billing policy are exclusive of VAT (some countries may refer to VAT as Goods and Services Tax (“GST”) or Harmonized Sales Tax (“HST”); VAT, GST, HST, and any local sales tax are collectively referred to as VAT).

* Effective Date: July 20th, 2025.

How does it Work ?

GEARhub Payments is the default payment. Most shoppers prefer the convenience and ease of paying by credit card in their local currency, and GEARhub Payments allow your buyers to do just that. GEARhub Payments enables you to accept a wide variety of payment methods, which can help you attract more buyers and sell gear more quickly.

Here’s how it works:

>You sell your beat-up BOSS-DS1 Distortion pedal for R400. The buyer pays via GEARhub Payments.

>You’ll be charged R40 commission (R400 x 10%), + a Payment Transaction fee of R27,70 (0.35% + R13,70).

>Therefore you will get paid out R332,30. Nice and simple !

How much does it Cost ?

When will I receive my Funds ?

GEARhub initiates your payout up to 7 business days following confirmation of delivery & the Buyer is happy with the purchase.

  • It typically takes up to 7 business days for funds to appear in your account, depending on your bank and country.
