Boss OC-2 Octave (MIJ)

R2500,00

The Boss OC-2 Octave (Made in Japan) is a legendary, all-analog pedal produced from 1982 to the late 80s, renowned for its warm, synth-like, and “glitchy” tones. It creates two lower octaves (-1, -2) plus a dry signal, allowing for thick, monophonic bass-like sounds. Early models (1982-1984) were labeled “Octaver”.

Description

Key Features and Characteristics:

  • Production: Early Japanese models are highly sought after by collectors, often featuring a lighter brown (1982-1985) or standard dark brown finish.
  • Sound: Famous for its analog “octave-down” effect, which is often described as thick, warm, and slightly synthetic. It is popular among bassists and guitarists alike.
  • Controls: Features3 dedicated knobs: -1 Octave, -2 Octaves, and Dry signal.
  • Tracking: It is a monophonic pedal, meaning it works best with single notes, and can produce a characteristic “glitchy” sound if chords are played or if tracking misses.
  • Power Requirements (Japan Units): Japanese OC-2 pedals typically require a 12V DC ACA adapter. If a standard 9V PSA adapter is used, the indicator light may be dim and the effect may not function correctly, though it works fine with a 12V supply or via a daisy chain with other pedals.
  • Build: Highly durable with high-quality components, which is a hallmark of Japan-made Boss pedals.
